Wedgemount Lake trail in Garibaldi Provincial Park is certainly one of the most difficult day hikes I have ever done. With an elevation gain of more than 1100 meters in just 7km, after we got to the top, however the spectacular alpine scenery makes the grueling trek well worth it. The downhill is equally difficult.
There are a few very nice campsites by the lake. One of them is even a small hut. By observing the sun, I guess if I could stay overnight, it would be a nice sunset location.
