2022 Revisit
Since the first time we visited Grand Canyon 15 years ago, we have occasionally stopped by this amazing place but never devote a dedicated time for it. In May 2022, we decided to pay a serious visit. We stayed 3 nights at north rim and 4 nights at sound rim. It was relax and enjoyable. We also did a hike from South Kaibab to Bright Angel at south rim. My GPS showed 19 miles total. Except for hiking under 109 degrees from bottom of canyon, the hike was not as hard as I expected. The view was, of course, amazing.
For photos, we pretty much checked out all overlooks in the park. I think the following places were the best:  Cape Royal and Point Imperial on north rim; Yaki Point and Pima Point on south rim.
2015 Rim-to-Rim
On May 24, 2015, we did a Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim (R2R) hike. I'd like to share our experiences and hopefully it helps your next adventure. We decided to hike from south to north. Before the trip we booked Trans Canyon Shuttle from North Rim to South Rim. Their staff were very knowledgeable. I highly recommend their service. On the trip day, we stayed in Las Vegas overnight; then drove to North Rim early next morning. We got to North Kaibab trailhead parking lot at about 12pm. At the time this article was written, overnight parking at North Kaibab trailhead was allowed although I saw signs said sleeping in the car overnight was not allowed. The shuttle picked us up at about 1:45pm. After we arrived to South Rim at around 6:30pm, we stayed in Bright Angel Lodge (pre-booked). On next day, the first Hiker Express shuttle picked us up at 5am. The bus stop was right out of the lodge, which was why we chose Bright Angel Lodge. Note that Hike Express shuttle starts at different time depending on the month. You should check with park service for schedules. We got to South Kaibab trailhead at about 5:30am. Temperature in early morning in May was low. I recommend a pair of thin gloves.
