We hiked McGee Pass Trail on Jun 28, 2020. While doing the research before the trip, I learned that the trail was kind of less popular than some famous ones. Also, looking at photos online, I did not see a lot of photos impressed me. Because of that, we did not have very high hope on scenery for this trip.
It turned out we were completely wrong. The trail was every bit as beautiful as any other popular ones at Eastern Sierra. Not only Big McGee Lake was beautiful, the portion between Little McGee Lake and McGee Pass was also stunning.
Our original plan was to get on the McGee Pass; then summit the Red Slate Mountain. But it was too windy that day. We were not able to even standing still on the Pass. We decided to save the Red Slate Mountain for our next adventure.
