We climbed this 13000 feet peak about 2 hours before sunset on Aug 12, 2017. Although Mount Gould and Lone Pine Peak are both class 2 route, Mount Gould was significantly easier than Lone Pine Peak. We started from Kearsarge Pass trailhead. Camped at Kearsarge Lakes. This was actually quite exhausted because from Kearsarge Pass to lakes we lost about 800 feet. After we set up tent, we had to climb up to the pass then continue towards to Gould. If I do this again, which I will, I would probably camp at Flower Lake before Kearsarge Pass, then climb the peak as a day hike.
Watching sunset on the peak was amazing. The hard part was, however, coming down! If you want to do the same, please be advised that this is a class 2 climbing. There is no trail but rocks. Climbing down in complete darkness is very dangerous. You will need a GPS, a good headlight, water and enough knowledge to keep you safe. Also avoid summitting if there are potential thunderstorms. Lightning or climbing on wet surface is even more dangerous.
My GPS track, Mount Gould.gpx, can be downloaded from GPS Tracks Collection. The way coming down was a better route.
