Olympic National Park is huge. The highlight of this park is its rock formations on beaches. Rialto Beach is our favorite. Along the beach we hiked a bit more than a mile to Split Rock and Hole-in-the-Wall area. This is certainly one of the best place for sunset. We saw people camped on the beach. If you decide to hike back after sunset, be sure to have a flash light and better with a GPS. Yes, I do mean GPS even with this short hike along the beach. When sky became completely dark, the surroundings suddenly became pretty wild. The tide was getting higher and higher. We had to constantly hop on drift woods to avoid waves. Without a GPS it would be hard to know where to get off the beach to parking lot.
We also watched a sunrise on Second Beach, which required a short 0.8 mile hike from parking lot. The view was stunning.
Hurricane Ridge is also a good place for sunset. We hiked Hurricane Hill trail and watched sunset near to the top of the hill.
There are two places to see rain forest in the park, Hoh Rain Forest and Quinault Rain Forest. Although Hoh is supposedly to be bigger, it did not impress me. I felt Quinault was nicer, and with much less visitors.
